KISSS Agriculture is an intelligent drip irrigation system that uses fundamentals of science to achieve its remarkable efficiency.
The brain is the geotextile material that surrounds the drip line and transfers water to the soil.
The pressure of the water interacting with the soil is transformed from 15psi at one point – far more than any soil can possibly cope with - to ultra-low pressure at millions of points in the geotextile, allowing the soil to absorb the water at its own pace.
The two photographs above show the amazing difference – on the left is conventional sub-surface drip irrigation, which produces an intermittent ‘beads along a string’ pattern. On the right is KISSS Agriculture, which delivers a continuous wide strip. In conventional subsurface drip irrigation the ‘beads’ appear shortly after the system is turned on. With KISSS Agriculture, the wide pattern appears slowly but surely. NB for KISSS Agriculture the water is shown on the surface for the purpose of demonstration, in a commercial operation this need not occur.
KISSS Agriculture spreads the water by capillary action in the soil, moving upwards and outwards at a pace determined by the soil type.
Water is not forced to the surface through tunnels created by pressure, to be wasted by evaporation. It does not drain away from the root zone, pushed down by gravity, because the weight of water being forced out of the drip line is greater than any soil can possibly hold at one point.
Practical testing of KISSS Agriculture shows that it typically uses 50% less water over an equivalent period than any other subsurface or drip irrigation system. Because the water stays there for many days, irrigation intervals are typically shorter and can be separated by significantly longer periods. Water need not be frequently shoved through the system to compensate for the wastage that is endemic in a conventional sub-surface drip irrigation system.
Think of KISSS Agriculture as underground rain, millions of tiny droplets falling in precise amounts exactly when and where you want it, moving naturally through the soil in the most efficient way possible.
